About Captains Inn
Our History
Serving Bay of Fundy Tourists Since 1988
The property was once owned by Captain Leonard Martin, who came from a family of Alma ship builders & sailers, dating back to the 1800’s. The previous owners, the O’Regan family, purchased the house in 1981, and commenced renovations in 1987 to transform it into a B&B. They bestowed upon it the name “Captains Inn” to honour and remember the well-known Martin family, who spent so many years on the sea. The O’Regan family operated the Captains Inn until 2013.
Jumping ahead to present day, while no longer being a Bed & Breakfast, the Captains Inn operates now simply as an inn, continuing to welcome guests from around the world to visit the Bay of Fundy.
Our Location
Situated directly across the road from the active Alma fishing harbour, in the heart of our small village, you’re only seconds away from exploring what the Bay of Fundy has to offer. Watch the tide rise & fall, get to experience local fishermen offloading their days catch, or take a walk along the shoreline.
Dive into the Alma culinary experience - local chefs serve up the best, fresh Fundy seafood. If you’re looking to try the tastiest lobster, scallops, seafood chowders, & fried clams, look no further! Not a seafood lover (*gasp*) - no worries, all jokes aside, Alma does have lots of options for you too, anywhere from massive burgers, hand made pasta dishes, fresh salads, or even pizza, there’s something for everyone. Check out the local craft brewery, situated in an old church, it certainly deserves a spot on your “must-see” list, and nothings quite as refreshing as a crisp, cold beer on a warm summer day. All Alma restaurants are within a 5 minute walking distance, giving you lots of close by options for breakfast, lunch, & supper.
Fundy National Park entrance is only a minutes walk away. Spend your day surrounded by nature where you can find over 100 kms worth of hiking trails available, beaches, waterfalls, lakes, a salt water swimming pool, and much more!

*If you require a check-in past 6:00p.m, please let us know as soon as possible, so we can accommodate this for you. Guests who do not arrive by 6:00p.m, and who have not made any contact with us prior to 6p.m, in regards to needing a later check-in time, risk being marked as a “no show”.
Please understand that as we are a very small inn (with only 6 rooms), we do not have a 24/7 front desk service. All guests are provided with a phone number, where staff can be reached 24/7 incase of any questions, providing assistance, or emergencies.
Cancellation Policy
We have a 72 hour cancellation policy, if you need to cancel your reservation for any reason at all, please contact us 72 hours in advance from your reservation date to avoid any fees/charges. Guests who cancel their reservation after the free cancellation period has ended, will be charged the equivalent to their reservation total, or the equivalent to their 1st nights stay if booked for more than 1 night.
No Show Policy
Guests who do not show up for their reservations will be charged a fee equivalent to their entire reservation amount.
